Provides comprehensive nursing care to a group of patients/residents by direct patient care delivery and coordination of inter-departmental patient care activities. Provides wound assessment, staging of wound and wound care recommndation to a group of patients that is referred by their physician for wound and skin care management. Provides ostomy/stoma services to include site marking, stoma care, post-op teaching, and assisting with appropriate ostomy supplies. Acts as a resource person for provision of wound and ostomy/stoma care. Assist with education of patient and families. Assists staff with orientation and education.
Education and/or experience: Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Tennessee. Wound and ostomy certification required. Emotional maturity and stability confirmed by reference and or evaluations. Three or more years clinical healthcare experience required in an acute care facility.
Knowledge: Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, license practical nurse and nursing assistants. Knowledge of and appropriate application of nursing process. Knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, techniques involved in administering routine medications and / or treatments to patients/residents. Knowledge is current to job related skills, organizational accreditation requirements and industry changes. Basic computer knowledge

Abilities: Ability to communicate clearly with patients/residents, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others. Ability to conduct needs assessment using a variety of strategic tools. Ability to incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs. Ability to develop and coordinate education plans to address patient/resident population specific nursing care. Ability to use computer and learn new software programs. Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and / or paper documentation tools. Ability to think critically and problem solve while remaining focused and organized in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
