Teach Agriculture courses to a diverse student population in a lecture/laboratory environment.
Instructor to teach assigned courses in Agriculture within the Agriculture department. This position also includes field laboratory instruction and work with the Winter Horse Series, and requires visits to local business and industry partners.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. Develop, teach, and update courses in the classroom and laboratory field settings.
B. Prepare course syllabi, course materials, evaluate student learning, and maintain class records.
C. Establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with local agriculture business and industry members.
D. Participate in curriculum development, budget planning, student recruitment and advising activities, department/division meetings, and college committees.
E. Maintain labs, facilities, and materials as necessary.
F. Work with high school agriculture programs to recruit students into the WSCC Agriculture program.
G. Perform all duties of faculty as outlined in Walters State Community College Policy 06:01:01 Guidelines for Faculty.
H. Travel to other campuses and off-campus sites as required.
I. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the Position
Minimum of a Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Business, or a related area from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of five years of work experience in an Agriculture-related business or environment.
An understanding and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.
Teaching experience or demonstrated work proficiency in Agriculture preferred.
Experience in teaching at a college or community college level preferred.
Experience with irrigation, turf management, and horticulture industry preferred.
Pesticide certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS:
Ability to work in both a classroom and outdoor setting, including the operation of equipment necessary for farm animal maintenance and care. Outdoor activities will include the performance of standard farm activities involving animal care, and will be subject to seasonal weather conditions. Ability to stand and sit for long period s of time. Ability to understand and use personal computers, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Office software,
