REPORTING SENIOR: Director of Nursing
JOB OBJECTIVE: Develop and teach nursing courses in the clinical and classroom settings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. Develop and teach courses in the nursing disciplines in classroom/laboratory/clinical settings with particular emphasis on fundamentals and medical surgical nursing.
B. Prepare course syllabi, course materials and examinations.
C. Evaluate student learning and maintain class records.
D. Establish and maintain partnerships with clinical agencies to facilitate student clinical learning experiences
E. Participate in curriculum development, health programs student advising, departmental meetings and accreditation activities.
F. Participate in multi-disciplinary college committees and activities.
G. Establish and complete goals and objectives for the individual and department.
H. Assess educational outcome measures and complete academic reporting as required.
I. Teach large and small groups of individuals.
J. Use computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
K. Provide instruction in technology enhanced class/clinical setting, including interactive distance technology and online.
L. Maintenance of classroom clinical laboratory.
M. Collaborative teaching with team of peers and function under the direction of the course faculty and director of nursing
N. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
O. Provide other related assistance as required.
P. Complete all duties outlined in Guidelines for Faculty WSCC Policy 06:01:01
A. Minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
B. Minimum of three years recent experience in fundamentals/and medical surgical nursing.
C. Possess current license as a nurse in Tennessee (or be licensure eligible).
D. Teaching experience with groups of individuals.
E. Experience in curriculum assessment or curriculum development.
F. Experience with evaluations (student, faculty, staff)
G. Understanding and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.
H. Clinical teaching experience
JOB LOCATION: The primary campus is in Morristown, Tennessee. The position will require regular travel to off-campus sites for instruction. Off-campus sites are located in Greeneville, Sevierville and Tazewell. The clinical sites for this position will vary. Clinical sites are located in the 16 county extended service area for nursing. Travel to the off campus sites and clinical facilities will be required.
EQUIPMENT: Primary assignment involves the use of clinical equipment, computer equipment and audio-visual equipment.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Clinical nursing skills and the ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with others.
